Microsoft app turns smartphone into a 3D scanner
Microsoft’s research team has launched a trail mobile app that enables the smartphone turn into a 3D scanner.
This Microsoft app is called MobileFusion. It uses the RGB capabilities of a phone’s rear camera to capture an object for times from different angles. There is a 3D model set on screen.
The models are made without any help of any additional hardware or an internet connection. It is suggested to be strong enough for 3D printing.
The MobileFusion is an extension of Microsoft’s Kinect Fusion project. So it enables users to make 3D models with the help of Kinect camera.
To use this new app for making new creation, it helps the users to avoid the drawbacks by working independently of a PC as it allows them to make 3D imagery during the process.
The technology team indicates the MobileFusion will be ale to build graphics for augmented reality application. They claim the app will be compatible with the upcoming HoloLens Headset.
Microsoft has not announced any plans for its new app’s release issues to the public yet. It is said that this new app is supposed to be brought into iOS, Android, and Windows Phones devices in the future. Please pay close attention to Microsoft news.
