VLC 3.0 Preview released for Mac: 360-degree video supported
VideoLAN has just released the first Preview edition of VLC 3.0, supporting 360-degree video play. That means macOS users get to enjoy watching surround videos. But Mac computers don’t have a motion tracker, so users need to do the control by using the mouse and keyboard.
VideoLAN said the new VLC that supports both 360-degree video and panoramic photos will be available on iOS next year. And VLC 3.0 is still an open-source, cross-platform application compatible with OpenGL and Direct3D11.
360-degree video is made by multiple cameras filming in the same space from different angles. Websites like Youtube that suppots these kind of videos allow users to change their watching angle at will without pausing the play.
