Oops, Google just discovered a vulnerability in OS X & iOS
Two years ago Google built a team called Project Zero particularly for vulnerability examination. And recently, the team just found a vulnerability of OS X and iOS.
Google’s vulnerability examination team Project Zero, which was established two years ago, has recently discovered a vulnerability in both OS X and iOS. This problem might give attackers the access to older versions of the systems.
In June of this year, Ian Beer, a member of Project Zero, reported this to Apple. And the company asked for 60 days to solve the vulnerability before Google reveals it. But Google rejected the request, and finally made the dead line September 21th.
However, Apple failed the repair before that date. In fact, it took them nearly five month to solve the issue, which won’t appear in the latest OS X 10.12.1 and iOS 10.1.
Apple, at September 20th, offered an emergency repair for OS X 10.12. They said this could only mitigate the situation instead of completely getting rid of it. And at October 3rd, a fully effective repair solution has been provided on Mac OS 10.12.1 beta 3.
