Google partially offers free Apps for Work

Google announced on Monday that it will provide free Apps for Work of office applications to those enterprises which are protocol usage of other softwares currently, reports Rueter.

General speaking,  the basic version of Apps for Work charges $5 per month for enterprise user, while the advanced version with better storage space and email archiving feature charges $10 per month.

Google will provide free office suites to enterprises during the agreement period. The office suites include Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive and Google Docs.

Google, on the other hand, has plan to engage consultant to assist the participation in the trail of Apps for Work. Google claims that it has about one million enterprises are pay-per-use Apps for Work.

Ross MacMillan, the capital analyst from the Royal Bank of Canada claims that this free trail campaign will raise public concern. But it might not cause substantial influence against its biggest rival Microsoft.

Microsoft’s spokesman addresses that its new subscribers for cloud-based Office 365 Commercial increased by 74% in the fourth quarter this year. Its receives 50,000 new subscribers from small business per month in this fiscal year. But Microsoft did not reveal its concrete numbers for Office 365 Commercial.

The monthly charges for Office 365 Commercial range from $5 to $12.5, depending on selected version they use.
