SWATCH teams up with China UnionPay to launch SWATCH BELLAMY
Smartwatch has become popular nowadays. SWATCH, the traditional watch giant is now teaming up with China UnionPay and Bank of Communications to launch touchless payable watch. It is named SWATCH BELLAMY, coming with SWATCH’s typical colors, adding a new feature that supports NFC payment. It sells at 580 yuan.
Its name is taken from American writer Edward Bellamy. He described such payable device in one of his science fictions in 1888. He was the first writer to describe the moden life. SWATCH chooses China as the launch venue for its first around watches owes to the prosperous development of NFC payment and smartwatches in China.
SWATCH BELLAMY remains its traditional design except embedding the NFC chip inside. It avails of the popular NFC technology and UnionPay platform, realzing the touchless payment with SWATCH. Such payable function doesn’t consume extra battery with the embedment of the identity recognization chip. In face, a SWATCH BELLAMY is a complete bank card. The difference is that the payment pattern comes as NFC.
SWATCH and its partners will promote SWATCH BELLAMY in the following months. It plans to release this product in January, 2016. The consumers can be able to buy the SWATCH BELLAMY through SWATCH stores, sites of Banks of Communications. SWATCH also plans to introduce it to US and Switzerland.
